Behind the Scenes: Laser Cutting for Acoustic Design

There is always something new to learn in the world of commercial interiors and acoustics is one of those aspects that can get overlooked – before you know it, there’s a plethora of innovations to get to grips with! We’ve found that it’s often the acoustics stands that catch our eye at trade shows; it’s so easy to imagine acoustics the way they used to be, as grey flat felt panels but today’s versions are light years away and have the most creative and colourful designs across lighting, artworks, furniture and even biophilia.

So you can just imagine how excited Fernanda and Ellie from our design team were when they joined Steve Cane and the rest of the Allsfar team at their showroom recently, to join a workshop where they created lamps that demonstrated the versatility of laser cut acoustic felt.

The object of the exercise was for our team to experience the versatility of this material first hand – Allsfar can make anything we put into an office design have a creative feel but still be acoustically useful.

Our takeaway from the day? If you want something different with your acoustics, we can deliver bespoke solutions – be as imaginative as you like!

We are looking forward to our next project with an acoustic element; as Fernanda says, “if you thought acoustic panels were just plain old boring felt, prepare to be amazed!”
