The one where we visit an antiquarian bookshop
More news on the wellness project we’ve been working on for a few weeks… Today, we met the client at the premises and the moment the agent opened the door it was clear that this was going to be a large complex and challenging undertaking. The building, an old bookshop that hadn’t been sold for over a hundred years, was still filled with rare and valuable books. However, it was also in a state of neglect and in desperate need of modernisation.
The client had ambitious ideas for the space, excitedly discussing their vision as we walked through. However, it quickly became apparent that they underestimated the scale of the work required. They were initially hoping for a quick turnaround on a tight budget, but after spending an hour walking through the building, we carefully explained that this was far more than a light-touch refurbishment.
To their credit, the client was receptive to our insights and eager to understand what needed to be done to bring their vision to life. Managing expectations on cost and time will be crucial moving forward, but their enthusiasm and willingness to learn were encouraging signs. This project is going to be a challenge, but it has the potential to be something truly special.
