Case Study Airspace conversion – North London

The Client:

Private client

Budget

£300k

The Job:

Creating an additional storey on top of an existing block

What We Did:

Over the course of a five month project, we removed the roof of an existing block of apartments, and created a new flat on the extra floor. This was a highly creative way of getting an additional home from the same overall footprint.
The rest of the building was occupied throughout the course of the build and incoming power was upgraded to both the new and existing apartments.

Challenges:

Access to site was very restricted, being in an existing residential area, and given that works were carried out at the top of the building, getting materials to the top floor was challenging, especially during winter. As the rest of the building was already occupied, we had to ensure that the site was weather tight throughout this time period.

Security was an additional consideration throughout the build. In the end, the result was a brand new 2 bedroom flat with an open plan kitchen diner.
